Kelly’s candy obsession

Kelly loves candy. I mean completely and totally obsesses over it. It’s often the first thing she asks me when she wakes up. It’s always the first thing she asks me when I pick her up from school. A typical conversation:

“Papi, I was good today.” (As opposed to the occasional days where she whaps a kid upside the head.)

“Were you Kelly? I’m so proud of you.”

“Papi, can I have a piece of candy?”

I’ll tell her yes. Or sometimes no. But unless she starts eating it RIGHT AWAY, she’ll keep asking. Over and over and over.

Sometimes we’ll try and get her to not say the word candy. Then she starts saying “thing” (or phing) – as in “Papi can I have um, ah, phing.”

Today we role played with me being Kelly and Kelly being Papi. This was fun. I especially liked the fact that the only sentence I had to say was “Papi can I have a piece of candy?” Kelly liked to say yes – in every situation (no doubt hoping her papi was learning through role playing).

Here’s the vid of us rehashing the role playing/candy phing later that night.
