It went well today. Kelly practically jumped in our laps as soon as she met us and didn’t stop laughing and talking until we just put them down for a nap 30 minutes ago. Monica thought she was prepared to meet us but moments after the introduction she started crying so they took her out to calm down. It took about a half hour for her to stop crying. We all went down to the playground at the ICBF office to try and help Monica transition into this change. She started to open up to us after we showed Kelly how to blow bubbles. Bubbles were the life saver. And gafas de sol. And dulces.
As soon as we got back to the hotel we went swimming. They LOVE to swim. Kelly has NO FEAR and Monica is much more cautious but she likes to hear praise when she tries to do something daring, like put her face under the water. Both of them let us hold them. Being in the water is great because it has kind of forced them to trust us, cling to us, hug us. Then we had lunch. I showed the girls that I was going to give them chips, granola bar, butter and jelly sandwhich, and cheese. When I showed Kelly the chips I put on her plate she told me she wanted the whole bag instead. I said no, she said yes, I said no, she said yes. You get the idea. Then we started laughing. I have a feeling she is going to be the one to test us. Monica just looks to Kelly to she what she’s doing before she’ll try it. Kind of like Ava and Gracie.
Now they are on the bed resting. We were told they rest for about an hour to an hour and a half. We’ll see. They’re just staring at me right now as I write this but they aren’t talking. They’re just quiet and curious at the moment. So far, no tears shed on anyone’s part. Zach is going to go out tonight and buy Chinese food for dinner. Apparently that’s one of their favorite foods. We’ll have to do more grocery shopping tonight too. Here are a few pictures of the day. If you click on the picture you can see a larger version of it.
